MEALS4HUNGER FEED A FAMILY PROGRAM NOW BEING OFFERED TO O’FARRELL COMMUNITY CHARTER SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
SAN DIEGO, CA, JANUARY 9, 2012: Recent statistics show that over 435,700 individuals in San Diego County received food assistance last year. In an effort to increase access to fresh, healthy food options in Southeastern San Diego, Meals4Hunger has partnered with O’Farrell Community Charter School (located at 6130 Skyline Drive, San Diego, CA 92114)to launch the Meals4Hunger Feed a Family Program @ O’Farrell. On February 2, over 900 O’Farrell students and their families will be able to receive free, confidential food pick-up twice a month at the O’Farrell Family Support Services office located on O’Farrell’s campus. The Feed a Family Program (FAFP) meal package will include fresh fruits, breads, grains and produce.
The Feed a Family Program, which is an anonymous food assistance program, is one of Meals4Hunger’s most popular outreach programs. O’Farrell’s commitment to providing healthy food choices for its families is further demonstrated by the planting of an orchard of varied fruit trees on the school campus. Once the trees begin bearing fruit, the fruits will also become a part of the Meals4Hunger Feed a Family Program at O’Farrell.
